Intel Dual Band AC 7260 Continually losing network connection

$

I've been having this issue for multiple months now. I would be on my computer browsing the internet or playing a game, when randomly my mouse would freeze for a bit and then my internet would stop working. When i click the network icon in the task bars, it would only show the network i'm connected to and no other networks would be available (not even my other band on my router). If i disconnect from that network and try to re-connect, it would say that there is no network found. After months of messing around with it, I found that I can get my internet up the fastest by turning off my Wi-fi, uninstalling the driver in device manager, and then scanning for hardware changes.

Checking Event viewer when the issue occurs, i see this NDIS 10400 message:

The network interface "Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260" has begun resetting.  There will be a momentary disruption in network connectivity while the hardware resets. Reason: The network driver requested that it be reset. This network interface has reset 1 time(s) since it was last initialized.

Followed by a WLAN-AutoConfig 10002 message:

WLAN Extensibility Module has stopped.

Module Path: C:\WINDOWS\System32\IWMSSvc.dll

This issue occurs daily, sometimes multiple times a day. I've tried updating the drivers, installing different drivers, turning off the power management settings, but have not found a permanent solution. If you have any advice, it would be much appreciated.

How to tell if a system supports Bluetooth 4 Peripheral role?

$

Dear all,

I reach out to you on behalf of our company, and our development team responsible for software applications that control a (so-called) active-implantable medical device for stimulation of the nervous system.

In our new software development project for an upcoming therapy, we are communicating an Android device, with a Windows-10 system over Bluetooth 4. Our medical system context requires us to use BLE (BT4) for all communication. In our setup, we define the Android device as being the Central, and the Windows system as being the Peripheral. This is conform the BLE standard, where the peripheral can only communicate with 1 Central.

Our developed software applications for Android and Windows successfully configure both sides and communication works.

In our test setup, we are using an Intel NUC as the Windows-10 system, which supports the Bluetooth Peripheral Role (reports TRUE). See attachment 1 from Windows device manager:

The Intel Wireless Bluetooth device hardware ID states: VID=8087 (Intel) PID=0A2B (no idea which variant and can't find this on Intel website)

Our problem

For different customers, we want to deploy different Windows 10-based hardware (computers).

For example, we have also deployed the latest Surface Pro 4 (2017). However, our Windows application throws an exception that the Intel Wireless Bluetooth does not support Low Energy Peripheral Role and as such, we cannot set up communication over BLE between our devices. If we check the same Windows Device Manager dialog we see:

Bluetooth Radio supports Low Energy Peripheral Role
<false>

So, we understand the cause.

The hardware ID of this Surface Pro states VID=8087 (Intel) but PID=0A2A (still, no idea what device this is, but it's different than the one in the Nuc!)

We see the same with other systems, some HPs, Dells, even some Mini PCs. It's a roulette game whereby only after buying hardware, we discover if the system supports Peripheral or not.

Also because Intel seems to list all these different devices as "Intel Wireless Bluetooth" and "Bluetooth 4.0". Even though the capabilities vary.

Please note that the test and development team have ensured the comparison was done with equal windows version and equal releases of the Intel driver software (tested different 19 and 20 releases)

Our questions

- Are we correct to conclude that the issue lies on the hardware variant (Bluetooth Radio)? Some 'variants' of the Intel Wireless Bluetooth support peripheral and some do not.

- Where can we find datasheet or technical specifications about what device 0A2B and 0A2A exactly are and what their differences are? A link is appreciated highly.

- Most importantly: how can we know before purchasing systems by volume, if a Windows-10 system features the Intel Bluetooth Chipset that supports peripheral role.

Your help is greatly appreciated to the progress of our work,

home network drops out, internet remains

I have a 6-week old HP laptop with an Intel AC3168 network adapter. Upon boot up, home network and internet are fine. If the home network is not in use after about 10-12 minutes the connection is lost & clicking on PC icon in File Explorer does not restore the connection yet the internet connection is still operable. Rebooting or changing an adapter setting, such as changing Roaming Aggressiveness to any other setting (without rebooting) will restore the home network right away yet after the same time interval, if not being used, the home network connection is lost while internet remains. I have disabled all power-saving settings I can find. I even selected "no SMPS" under MIMO Power Save Mode and tried different Transmit Power settings but the underlying problem remains. "Update driver" reports I have the latest version. The laptop remains accessible to the PC at all times. Router is an Intellinet Wireless G Broadband model 523431. Suggestions?

Wireless-N 7260 not working stable only with one network

Hello, I have a problem with network connection on Wireless-N 7260. I've changed my router about a month ago, because the old one died (D-Link DIR-615), and now my laptop can't maintain connection with the new Xiaomi Mi Router 3. It did work very well with the old one, it works stable with my iPhone 7 Plus being in hotspot mode, etc. The only router it doesn't get friendly with is my new one, but every other device in my house works perfectly with it. I've tried reinstalling and updating drivers, configuring the network card, configuring the router to match the settings of the old router, but nothing helps. One more strange thing is that when it disconnects, it doesn't always even find the network, and if it does, there's a very small chance that it will connect, the adapter will most likely just reboot while connecting, and then Windows will be like "unable to connect". Mostly it connects when I wake up the computer, and it even holds the connection for some time (the speed is quite low, though), but then this might happen. How can I fix it?

Hello,

Using the ONLY driver for the 9260 I cannot get this to work on my laptop (HP Envy x360).

I get the following error's in event viewer:

Event 5002, Netwtw06

Intel(R) Wireless-AC 9260: Has determined that the network adapter is not functioning properly.

Event 5003, Netwtw06

     Intel(R) Wireless-AC 9260: Could not find a network adapter.

Event 5005. Netwtw06

Intel(R) Wireless-AC 9260: Has encountered an internal error and has failed.

Event 5006, Netwtw06

Intel(R) Wireless-AC 9260: The version number is incorrect for this driver.

Event 5010, Netwtw06

Intel(R) Wireless-AC 9260: The network adapter has returned an invalid value to the driver.

Event 5032, Netwtw06

5032 - Driver Miniport reset watchdog

Event 5055, Netwtw06

AC8260 & AC8265 major connection issues with Asus routers ...

$

I have tried 2 separate HP Laptops, one with AC8260 and one with AC8265 cards,

and both have issues sustaining a solid connection to my RT-AC1900P (RT-AC68U)

Asus router on the 2.4Ghz band. The connection will randomly lose pings to the router

for about 20 seconds then fix itself, however the wireless link remains connected.

Laptops are Spectre x360 (one Pro - older model) and one newest Intel 8th Gen.

This is on both laptops running latest drivers 20.40.0.4 (also tried many older ones),

and Windows 10 Pro x64 (latest updates). The wireless network has a strong connection

and it's always full bars and 144/144 Mbps (this is running on a 20 Mhz channel width),

although I've tried many other options, including changing power options in the Intel

Wireless drivers as recommended on Intel Technical Bulletins, without success.

New installs of Windows 10, as well as factory resets, tried everything ...

Sometimes the issues happens every minute, sometimes every ~10 minutes.

The same cards seem to work fine with an Asus RT-N66U on 2.4Ghz band.

What's the next step for troubleshooting this issue ?

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

i have troubles with W-Lan on my ProBook 645 G3. The W-Lan doesn't work. The Hardware ID is ven_8086&dev_095a&subsys_50108086&rev_59 . The last driver 19.51.11.2 is installed and i use Windows 10 1709 x64.

On a ProBook 645 G2 with hardware id ven_8086&dev_095a&subsys_50108086&rev_61 the W-Lan works fine.

So wich driver i had to use? And why have my newer notebook an older revision number?

with best regards

Win10 stutters on battery if Wireless AC-8265 set to Power Saving or if there is no internet connection/airplane mode

$

Windows 10 (fully patched and updated) laptop stutters and lags when it runs on battery power under certain conditions. I have traced this (I think) to power saving settings for the Wireless Adapter. Here's the logic...

If laptop is on AC power - no issues

If laptop is on battery AND wireless adapter power saving is set to "Medium Power Saving on battery" then Windows 10 (everything) lags and stutters. The mouse freezes for a couple of seconds, typing stops and starts, even the up-time counter in Task Manager skips a few seconds. If I switch the wireless adapter power saving setting to Max Performance on battery the issue goes away. BUT...

Even if I leave the wireless adapter power saving setting as"Maximum Performance on battery" then the stutter reappears IF there is a no wireless internet connection or if the laptop is in airplane mode.

So, Win 10 stutters IF(on battery == TRUE) AND ((Wireless Power Saving != Max Performance) OR (Wireless Internet Connection == FALSE))

To those with more knowledge than me:

If the wireless adapter is the issue (and I'm pretty sure it is) is there a fix? Why is the presence of an internet connection preventing the laptop lagging but in airplane mode it comes back (even with Max Performance set). I guess it is the adapter realising after some period that there is no connection and then going into a sleep state or low power mode even though it is set to max performance. i.e. it mimics the behaviour of medium power saving (even with an internet connection). But this sleep state drags the entire PC down with it?

HP Spectre x360 laptop, Core i7 7th Gen, 16Gb RAM, 1Tb SSD, Intel Wireless-AC 8265.

Happy to run some tests etc.

Thanks in advance.

Connector of Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160 NGW

Hello,

I would like to know the type of connector is used to connect the Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160 NGW card to the intern wifi antenna.

This card is the default one on my computer.

I accidentally broke the connector on the cable while I was changing my CPU fan.

For that reason, I would like to replace the antenna, or a least the cable between the antenna and the wifi card, but I can't find its type of connector.

Could you help me please ?

[Bug] Bluetooth AC-3156 sound stutters nonstop when I rewind a video on a website.

$

Hello,

I have an Inspiron i5577 with AC-3156 w/BT. For a long time now, sometimes when I rewind a video on Firefox or Chrome, on any website, with a fresh Windows 10 installation, the video and audio becomes choppy. Imagine looking at a video that only plays 1 Frame Per Second. It plays for quarter of a second, stops, plays again, stops, etc. Once the stutter begins, every sound played through other sources such as local MP3 or Windows notification sound also stutter.

If I rewind videos on a local MP4 file it never starts stuttering. It never starts stuttering with wired earphones. The stutter is always initiated when changing a video playback position on the browser. The more frequently I change the position, the more likely it stutters. Sometimes it stutters only for a second after rewinding but continues to play. When this initial one-time stutter happens, it always starts stuttering permanently after subsequent rewinding. Rewind once - it stutters once but plays fine. Rewind again - it stutters forever.

I have tested it with two BT headsets manufactured by different companies, as well as on two web browsers. The problem is with the Bluetooth adapter or drivers.

I have followed Mr. Carlos A.'s advice to reinstall WiFi and BT adapters but that hasn't solved it-3165 Bluetooth cuts of minus of a second that affects all devices connected. Dell Inspiron 7000 17" on W10. I've done… (tried Dell's WiFi/BT drivers too).

To temporarily fix the problem I disable and re-enable the BT adapter. The BT headphone automatically pairs and it plays fine after the reset. Sometimes the stutter happens multiple times in 10 minutes, sometimes once an hour. It makes media consumption through BT highly unpleasant.

I've attached Intel System utility log to this thread with a hope that someone can help troubleshoot it. I'm willing to go through technical steps. Thanks in advance!

EDIT:  Here is a more detailed look at the problem. Open a YouTube video and play. Click on a rewind bar to skip ahead. Do it again. It starts stuttering. Click on Windows 10 notification button (bottom-right corner of taskbar) and from the action panel click on the Bluetooth card twice to disable and re-enable. Once the Bluetooth is disabled, what surprises me is that the video automatically stops. If I try to rewind the video while BT is being reset, it won't play. The video starts playing automatically on its own once the BT finishes resetting and pairs the BT headset. As soon as its automatically paired the video resumes with a proper sound.

I have been unable to successfully maintain a bluetooth connection since installing this product in September of 2016.  I have tried literally dozens of attempts of uninstalling and updating drivers to no avail.  The device will work perfectly on its initial reinstallation but will fail on pc restart or reboot.

Here are some screenshots of the errors I am seeing and system report:

Can somebody ANYBODY out there PLEASE help me? I updated all drivers because my tabs were opening slow. Now they're running slower than MOLASSES!! I'm supposed to get 55mbps, but I've been getting 9, 10, 15!! I tried to roll back the Network driver and NOW my Bluetooth mouse is acting crazy! I should have prefaced this discussion by saying I am computer ILLITERATE when it comes to nomenclature and such, I have been TRYING to read up on how to connect my dual band router to my laptop which does NOT support 5g, and my eyeballs are about to explode...I'm close to tears...and pulling my eyebrows out my face!!!

Dear Team

I am facing Code 10 error on my Bluetooth. It was working a week back but now it is showing me a Power Failure Error.

The hardware is fine because It is working on Linux system (I have a dual boot system).

The issue seems to be of the driver, but I have updated all the drivers.

Please find screenshots attached.

It would be great if you could help me with this.

AC 8260 New Installation Issues

I recently put this module in a brand new computer, and installed Windows 10.. No noticed I had Wifi but no Bluetooth...  No worries, drivers and updates were installing.  Well, after that happened and the computer rebooted, I have Bluetooth, but no WIFI... I have tried downloading/reinstalling the latest drivers and removing the Bluetooth device with no luck.  I always end up with Bluetooth and no wifi;  I have a couple of unknown Intel devices but can't seem to get those to do anything.

The only thing I can think of now is to remove all of the Intel drivers that windows update installed because honestly I'd rather have wifi than Bluetooth.   Below are the drivers it put on there...

Is there a current Intel mini-PCIe MHF4 wifi adapter?

Hi,

My laptop has a Centrino N-6235ANHMW network adapter, which has the strange combination of being mini-PCIe but with MHF4 antenna connectors.

Usually mini-PCIe cards come with U.FL connectors (MHF4 connectors being standard for NGFF/m.2 wifi adapters).

Normal and weird adapter side by side

Old card with MHF4 to the left, normal card with U.FL to the right.

I'm looking to replace this adapter (for 802.11ac and better driver support) – preferably Intel again but I'm unable to find a card with this specific combination of connectors. Am I SOL on this one?

Thanks for any insights!

How to uninstall PROSet/Wireless Software for Bluetooth patch?

I'm running Windows 10 on an Asus Z87 Pro V motherboard. I removed my Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 for Desktop adapter today because of driver problems and blue screens that seemed related to it and recent versions of Windows 10. I'm now using a wired connection instead.

I was able to successfully remove one Intel PROSet Wireless program and one Intel PROSet Bluetooth program from Programs and Features. However, when I try to uninstall the Intel PROSet/Wireless Software for Bluetooth Technology (patch version 3.0.1342.2) program/patch, the process fails with the message "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor." It also displays a second, more simple failure message.

Based on a suggestion on another thread, I tried using the Microsoft tool that helps with installation/uninstallation issues (Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall). That program listed other programs in Programs and Features, but not the Intel PROSet patch I can't uninstall. It seems that Windows somewhat thinks the patch is installed and uninstalled.

How can I remove this item successfully? For now, I just want to use a wired connection and not having anything PROSet-related left on the computer.

Thanks!

Intel Dual Band AC 8260 performance decreased to not usable today

Hello,

I have a 5 week old ASUS laptop.  For the most part, the laptop could get 15-25 Mb/s on my home wireless. All of a sudden today, I lost Internet connectivity. After restarting and such, speeds might hit 2 Mb/s but sometimes, speeds are measured in bytes or KB.  Often, it is not working on wireless I can connect a USB to Ethernet adapter and get 55 MB/s. But wireless is bad, and I really need wireless.  Any ideas?

I followed the steps to completely remove the older drivers and add new ones, but that did not solve the issue. The SSU results are attached

How to tell if an Intel-based system supports Bluetooth 4 Peripheral role?

$

<false>
