I bought an Intel Wireless-AC 9260 adapter for my ThinkPad (A485) because it seemed from the Linux* Support for Intel® Wireless Adapters website, that it would work as of Kernel 4.14. While the WLAN worked flawlessly out of the box, the bluetooth part of that adapter is not recognized by my Arch Linux installation with Kernel 4.18.12.
Let me give you some further information on the issue:
$ uname -a Linux xenonpad 4.18.12-arch1-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Thu Oct 4 01:01:27 UTC 2018 x86_64 GNU/Linux
An indication of what may go wrong is given in the dmesg output:
$ dmesg | grep -i bluetooth [ 21.756292] Bluetooth: Core ver 2.22 [ 21.756348] Bluetooth: HCI device and connection manager initialized [ 21.756357] Bluetooth: HCI socket layer initialized [ 21.756363] Bluetooth: L2CAP socket layer initialized [ 21.756377] Bluetooth: SCO socket layer initialized [ 21.782360] Bluetooth: hci0: Bootloader revision 0.1 build 42 week 52 2015 [ 21.787365] Bluetooth: hci0: Device revision is 2 [ 21.787367] Bluetooth: hci0: Secure boot is enabled [ 21.787368] Bluetooth: hci0: OTP lock is enabled [ 21.787368] Bluetooth: hci0: API lock is enabled [ 21.787369] Bluetooth: hci0: Debug lock is disabled [ 21.787377] Bluetooth: hci0: Minimum firmware build 1 week 10 2014 [ 21.789689] Bluetooth: hci0: Found device firmware: intel/ibt-18-16-1.sfi [ 23.946762] Bluetooth: hci0: command 0xfc09 tx timeout [ 31.840383] Bluetooth: hci0: Failed to send firmware data (-110)
In lspci, i find the adapter together with the appropriate kernel module:

Nothing on rfkill either:
$ rfkill list all 0: phy0: Wireless LAN Soft blocked: no Hard blocked: no
The bluetooth module is unsurprisingly also not found within bluetoothctl of the bluez stack.
I bought this adapter specifically for the claimed Linux support and really need my bluetooth devices. Any help or reports of having this adapter's Bluetooth working under Linux (preferably with configuration and kernel version information) are greatly appreciated.
Best regards,
Chris
Looking to extend my vive wireless adapter antenna cable that uses an intel wigig PCI-E card. Any one know the coaxial cable that will work with this (60ghz)?
Can anyone tell me if Intel 3165 and 9260 wireless adapters are interchangeble?
I tried to replace an Intel 3165 adapter with a 9260 one in my Windows 10 computer and even though they look the same and it fit in the mini slot fine it was not recognized when Windows started.
I noticed two differences in the cards:
1) the 9260 has one extra gold contact (under the letter E)
2) the little black and white triangles by the two antenna attachments were reversed (although they are numbered the same)
I am unclear if the 9260 adapter is not compatible with my system (since it was not recognized) or whether it requires the antenna wires to be reversed to be recognized.
Has anyone replaced a 3165 adapter with a 8260?
We have 2 Dell laptops (Latitude 7490 & 5580). Both have the Intel 8265 ac wireless card installed. Both are running windows 10.
Both have been experiencing extremely slow wireless download speeds. By slow I mean less than 1mb down. Upload speeds appear to be fine. This problem occurs on any wireless network (users homes, our work, Starbucks, etc.).
Changing the MTU from 1500 to 1400 on the card worked for about a week, Now their speeds are slow yet again.
Wired internet works fine.
Dell replaced one of the wireless cards and the speeds are still slow.slow.
Both are using the latest Intel drivers.
Got an Acer Nitro 5 a few days ago. Worked perfectly fine that night. Next day wifi would occasionally cut out. Today the wireless adapter will only give me a code 10 error, indicating a driver/hardware failure. Tried all solutions I could find as far as the drivers go with no luck. I think the adapter may have come loose inside the laptop. I want to make sure I'm not missing some "duh" solution before I open this up, or if I'm better of taking it to a shop to have a guy do it for me.
We are in trouble with the phenomenon that WIFI reconnects.
The following logs are recorded in the Windows event log.

Hi,
I'm having probelms with this device. When I'm connected to a 5Ghz network I'm getting frequent disconnects. I'm also experiencing very slow connection speeds when using this device. (17mb/s down and 2mb/s up)
I've tried updating the drivers to the latest ones on Intels support website, and I've tried using the drivers on the computer manufacturers website. Both result in no change.
As a further test I ran a speed test on the same hardware using a fresh Linux installation and this gave me full speed. I also created a fresh user account within windows but found this resulted in slow speeds, so this has led me to believe there may be a problem with the drivers.
When I have been getting the disconnects I've been seeing these errors and warnings in event viewer:
Driver from Intel I tried was: 20.80.0.5
Driver from Asus I tried was: 20.60.2.2
I've also run the system support utility and have included the results.
This card came with the Dell laptop will not start regardless of the driver version. I have tried 20.50 to 20.80. None of them worked. The card is recognized by Windows 10. Dell service rep suggested rolling back to Windows April update. Installed the update and still experience the same issue. I am wondering if the card should be replaced. Any one can give me some pointer to remedy the issue?
Hello everyone, this is not a question it's just my report.
If you have recently updated (as updating the drivers for the existing card) your Wireless card in your notebook you may discovered you are having major issues with internet keeps disconnecting and reconnecting and having problems with DNS. I couldn't fix the issue for a long time until I reverted back to old drivers.
I discovered that the issue was with this program and drivers: Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software and Drivers for Windows® 10 64-bit, Version: 20.70.0 and 20.80.0
What I did was that I reverted back to these drivers: Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software and Drivers for Windows® 10 64-bit, Version: 20.60.0.7.
Now everything works perfectly and no more issues and problems with Wi-FI card dropping connection. I hope Intel your programmers will find the issue beacuse I think there is a bug in these drivers. Hope you could resolve it.
My setup is:
Lenovo ThinkPad-X1-Carbon-5th-Generation-Laptop
Microsoft Windows 10 Pro (64-bit) Version: 1803
Have a nice day!
Regards,
Janez
Hello all,
Recently I have been encountering a long line of issues with the Intel Dual Band Wireless AC-8260 wireless network adapter.
This is strange as I have not encountered any problems in the two years I have owned my ASUS X330C.
It all started when I plugged a pair of wired headphones into the laptop. After a few seconds, the Wi-Fi icon on the bottom right of the screen changed to the red x over the monitor icon which shows that I am not connected nor are there connections available.
My first instinct was to go into the Device Manager tab and look under the Network Adapters list, and I could not see the Intel Dual Band Wireless AC-8260 even after clicking on 'Show hidden devices', which led me to believe that somehow, the driver had been deleted.
I clearly have little to no experience with these sorts of problems, and I'm not sure if whatever caused this was some sort of virus, or an issue with the laptop itself.
I would appreciate if anyone could advise me on how to reinstall the correct driver(s) and/or fix the problem to begin with so it never happens again.
Thank you!
Hi,
I have question regarding antenna connectors on Wireless module Intel 8265NGW. There are two connectors marked 1 AUX and 2 MAIN. We want to use 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz antenna in our design. According to recomodations on web, you should plug in 5Ghz antenna to AUX and 2.4GHz antenna to MAIN connector. But after testing with our microstrip dual 5G/2.4G antenna we found out, that better results (speed, range, Bit error rate) are achieved if antennas are switched - 2G to AUX and 5G to MAIN connector.
Can you please provide information, what is difference between MAIN and AUX connectors and what is recomended configuration of antennas?

Hello Eugenio,
I am considering to order 8265ngw as it is reported to be compatible with my hardware. [ may I know what is its power consumption in watts?]
But it is not confirmed if d2w will be compatible, as it seems to me.
However, I am wondering if 8625d2w provides LTE, as it is marked with LTE coexistence tag in the specification.
Thank you.
Andrei
Hello,
I have just re-installed windows 7 (64bit) in my laptop (HP). Unfortunately it does not recognize the network controller and I can not find the right driver on the internet.
In details (Hardware Ids):
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0084&SUBSYS_13158086&REV_00
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0084&SUBSYS_13158086
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0084&CC_028000
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0084&CC_0280
From searching on the Internet I found that the network controler is the "Intel WiFi Link 1000".
Please help me to solve this problem.
Thanks a lot!
Hi,
I need 2 internals antennas for a Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265.
How can I get theses products ? Which models ?
Thank you.

I have a host of devices connected wireless that run download speeds between 65-100 mbps. However, this laptop cannot break beyond 21. I've made sure all updates were appropriately made and followed a few only trouble shooters to look for items bogging this pc down or device manager/network adapter modifications. Nothing is working. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

I have recently purchased a Dell G5 5587 and I am currently experiencing issues with the wifi card. When I go into device manager it says that there is an error 10 code. When I look into the event viewer the message in the title pops up.
I have already tried resetting the laptop to the factory state which fixes the problem temporarily and then the same problem reappears. I have also tried doing a network reset but that didn't fix the problem either.
I don't know what is causing the problem since the wifi card works after I factory reset my laptop but the device breaks again a few days after. Please help.
