intel WLAN modules - how much power do it use?

$

i know most of the latest m.2 A+E key module is pcie x2 lane with USB are for lower power.  I went to intel website for AC3168 as an example Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 3168 Product Specifications but it doesn't show in specification how much power it uses during load, or average wattage.

I wish to know this as it is very important for me, please do not ask why, I just want to know for my own reasons which i do not wish to share.

these m.2 A+E key is 3.3v so w/e the current draw will be 3.3*mA.

WiFi - Unable to connect to any network until disable / re-enable card

Hi All,

Have a bit of a strange issue which is being seen on a large number of our devices:

We push a WiFi profile via Group Policy to connect to an non-broadcast SSID which allows for access to our corporate domain. On our Windows 7 devices, we occasionally see an issue connecting to networks with the following Intel cards:

AC7265

AC7260

AC8265

AC8260

I have a device with me at the moment where i see the following scenarios when starting the device:

1. Hidden network is seen and connects fine (the working state)

2. No networks are seen at all

3. All broadcast networks are seen but unable to connect with the 'Unable to connect' error message

In scenarios 2 and 3, if i disable and re-enable the Wireless NIC card, once it's enable, i see no issues. Networks connect and they are all seen. Following a reboot, we're back at square one and the NIC needs to be disabled and enabled again. I've removed all software from the device which may have any interference (VPN clients / AV etc.) but the issue remains.

Any recommendations? Have this logged with Microsoft but they're unable to give me any ideas yet!

I just bought this Desktop in July 2018 and everything works perfectly till 8/14/18 I did a Windows update, next day when I using my PC I start to realized my Bluetooth is not on, I try to turn it on but the button was missing and then I look more into it and figure out my Bluetooth driver is having a error. Please look at picture below for more info. You can see I start to get warnings on 8/15/18 after my Windows update on 8/14/18, I choose shut down and update so after update my PC didn't turn on till 8/15/18.

My PC is Windows 10, I believe my Bluetooth comes from the Network Adaptor I'm using, which is

Intel Dual Band Wireless - AC 3168

So far I have try a lot of suggestion from the web but nothing helps.

What I tried so far:

1. Update my driver to the newest (it already on the newest)

2. restore my pc to a earlier point

3. uninstall windows update

4. go to service.msc restart Bluetooth support service and set it to auto

5. uninstall and reinstall driver

6. using windows troubleshooting, Bluetooth and hardware both didn't fix problem

7. Change to Generic Bluetooth driver (gives me error code 43, when update it brings me back to Intel's latest version, which is what I had)

8. and some other stuff I forgot, I had try so much things and nothing works

If anyone has a fix please help! Microsoft please fix this!!! I Bought a $200 wireless Earbud just for wireless and the reason why I bought this PC it also because I want Bluetooth connection!

Thanks!

Hi, I have been having issues with my wifi card. My earlier card on my laptop was discontinued and I couldnt get the drivers for it. Which lead me to buy a new wifi card the dual band AC 7260. Install went fine and now it generates a code 10 and states the device cannot start. Why is this happening and how can I fix it. I have followed your steps listed on some other threads. Uninstalling it, clearing the temp files, installing it again etc. but same result.

Please help. Am really frustrated with your products now.

I have a Inspiron 5565, o/s Windows 10 64bit, that came with a Quailcom wireless card installed. I purchased the Intel AC 9260 to replace the horrible qc card. But the drivers that are listed on here aren't working. I need to get the wifi drivers that are compatible with my dell inspiron 5565 laptop. I first contacted dell and they told us that we had to contact you guys for the drivers since i did not purchase the card through them they would not help me and hung up. I have tried drivers from the dell website but could not find one compatible for my laptop. i also tried the newest updated drivers from intel website. thank you for your support.

Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260 slow speed

Hello there,

have no idea when exactly this happened, but local/network speed to/from my Lenovo Ideapad Y700 15ISK is not working at normal network rate.

I have 300mbps speed from my ISP, laptop gets network from asus rt-87u router, and i'm pretty sure that router is ok, because NAS is downloading at full rate.

Got installed latest drivers for AC-8260 card, but no changes - speed is maximum ~100mbps, no matter in which network, local or internet.

Here's the SSU log below, will be really appreciated for any help, thanks.

Wifi issue with AC 7260

Hi all, I was hoping I might find a solution other than buying a new wireless adapter. I am currently unable to detect a wireless signal, and the wifi LED is off- however, the Bluetooth works fine.

I'm running Windows 10 64 bit, and I have a MSI Z170A Gaming Pro motherboard. Both are up to date.

I'm not terribly computer savvy, but I've tried the following without success:

  • I have uninstalled, restarted my pc, and installed the current driver. (20.50.0)
  • I have uninstalled the current driver and tried a couple older versions to no avail.
  • I can see the adapter in Device Manager, and when I try to troubleshoot through Windows I receive a  " This device is not configured correctly. (Code 1) Driver is not intended for this platform." message.
  • I have removed the card itself from the PCI slot and into another slot. Nothing changed.
  • In the Event Viewer, there is a message saying "The device could not be migrated."

I cannot tell if anything truly triggered this or not: I simply booted my pc up a couple weeks ago and wasn't able to connect.

Thanks,
-Kayla.

Acess point problem with Intel wiresless adapter

Hi.

My oldest daughter is at the university. She uses a Toshiba laptop that has an internal Intel wireless chip. They have a campus wide wireless network, which has always the same SSID with several routers spread out.

By sheer bad luck the router that is picked 90%+ of the times by her laptop in the classroom where she spends most of her time is incompatible with this chip and although it gives a connection no data gets through or if it manages to it's at dismal speeds. Through logging and help of some software I was able to find out this and the MAC address of the culprit. She contacted the IT department and they simply won't solve it. She has another colleague who has the same problem, same chipset. Software upgrades have not solved it, neither Windows updates on neither portable, this has been going on for almost a year.

Yes she can use one USB Wireless adapter but this is a big room, the routers are most probably outside in the corridors and only way to pick a decent signal is to use one with a decent antenna. This is not practical and it's even dangerous, as already twice one of her colleagues has almost broke the adapter and USB port by accident as there's too much people in the class and this is bound to happen other times.

So my question is: can I block, blacklist or anything similar the MAC address of the crazy router so that the Intel Wireless adapter picks another and ignores the problematic one? Sometimes she's able to pick another 2 routers which work without issues. I've been trying to find out this information, can't find anything anywhere.

The portable has Windows 10. I don't think Windows has anything like this, but I could be wrong, I was hoping the Intel drivers would be able to do anything to help.

Please don't tell me to install new drivers, update windows, this has been tried lots of times in her laptop and sometimes on the other one with the same chipset. it's just some weirdproblem with this router and the Intel chipset that will be really hard to solve, so I'm trying to find a easier and more viable solution.

Thanks,

AC 9260 in Windows 10 Device Manager but can't find connections

The title pretty much says it all. I've installed an AC 9260 on a third-party PCIE-X1 card and I cannot connect to my wireless network. Device Manager says the card has been installed correctly and - in fact - Windows has installed the most up-to-date driver for it. The system gives the message "No connections available." When I switch back to my USB wi-fi dongle, the system connects to my network immediately.

My computer is a Dell Inspiron 518 and the operating system is Windows 10 with all the latest updates. The PCIE-X1 card is this one:

I'm stumped. Can anyone tell me what the issue might be?

Hello,

I am having very slow download speeds (6 Mbps) when I'm connected to the wireless router.  When I'm connected directly to the modem, I get speeds around 65 Mbps.  My wife's computer, however, gets speeds around 45 Mbps when it is connected to the internet.  I've looked online for other help, but haven't been able to find anything.  I have Windows 10 on a Dell Inspiron 7437.  Thanks!
