dual band wireless-ac 3160 wifi problems

$

Hello! Like a month ago I started having problems with the WiFi board on mi laptop. It is a Compaq laptop running the latest Windows 10 distribution (1803). In the device manager, the adapter vanishes time to time, so basically it works somedays, some doesn´t I really don´t know the pattern. Rebooting does not always fix this.

So far I have tried to upgrade/downgrade drivers, remove and install back the card itself on the M2 slot and yesterday I reinstalled the OS itslef, after buying a new SSD.

A NOTE: the bluetooth works just fine, and I understand that the same network card is used for both WiFi and Bluetooth, so I wanna believe that the hardware is not dead.

Any guess?

Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 AC 2x2 HMC WiFi Adapter, I can't install or update driver.

Hey guys, I'm getting some issues trying to install AC 7265 driver on Windows 10 x64, I also use linux and in linux it's working as expected.

I've tried run Windows troubleshoot, also tried to update to the latest driver, tried remove the driver and restart PC twice, but none of these worked.

One thing I need to mention is that Bluethooth is not getting recognized on Windows, and bluetooth don't work, neither in linux.

When I open device manager I see the Wifi device listed as in the image below

But the Adapter configurations doesn't show the Intel Wireless, so I don't have WiFi when using Windows.

I don't know what to do, as I've tried to update driver many times, it seems installed, but not work.

I've Googled about it, also didn't find something useful.

Disable beeping sound when changing Bluetooth audio volume

My laptop has an Intel Wi-Fi + Bluetooth chip. I have updated to the latest driver version, 20.60.0.4.

The problem is, that Intel's Bluetooth driver seems to ignore Windows sound scheme (I disabled all sound effects), and plays a beeping sound when I change the audio volume of Bluetooth audio. How can I disable that beeping sound?

Issues with both 8260, 8265 drivers after 19.0.1 for radius EAP-TLS

Hello we have a strange issue which is reoccuring on all HP elitebooks using 8260 and 8265 networks. All drivers after 19.0.1 will fail getting internet access when connected To windows 2012R2 fully updated NPS using certificate (eap-tls)

When we however install a wifi driver earlier or at the level of 19.0.1 it works flawless. For 8260 we have tried 18.40 and it works great and for 8265 we tried the first driver 19.0.1 and it worked great.

All clients no matter the version will be able to connect and authorize radius, they will all get a valid ip adress and dns servers aswell as default gateway but after that the "new" drivers will stop working. Almost like they are missing a route or something.

The network for the Client will not work although the wifi still reports connected , working. on the newer drivers

The solution with using older drivers has worked on 3 of 3 clients all with similar issues so this IS an issue with the intel driver. Windows 10 version has ranged from the newest to 16xx versions, it doesn´t seem to matter

Anything previously reported? any solution to this issue?

Intel(R) Duel Band Wireless-AC 8265 Driver Error (Code 10) Wifi not detected

I turned on the Laptop and connected to my normal work related WiFi at work like I always do every morning. Nothing different than what I always do day in and day out. Within about 1 min after I noticed the WiFi on my laptop acting funny. Would not connect. It kept switching from Ethernet Plugin to WiFi.  than it just would not find my WiFi.  After some investigation I found that my Driver had a "Code 10" went and downloaded the latest updated driver from the Intel Site for my model.  Rebooted the Laptop and still had the same issue.  I uninstalled the driver and reinstalled the latest driver.  Rebooted the Laptop and it still was giving me an issue. I checked again online and made the Manufacture Drivers were all updated as well. Still can't seem to find an issue as to why this is happening.  I did attach the error logs and warnings that came up with the driver error.  Not sure if this would be of any sort of help. BAD_POOL_CALLER error trying to use windows 8.1 laptop as a WiFi hotspot.

The title explains the question pretty well. Anytime I try to use my windows laptop as a WiFi hotspot, it ends up crashing about 30 seconds in and I end up getting a BAD_POOL_CALLER error. I am currently using the Intel Dual Band Wireless driver recommended from the Asus website (which is my brand of computer). I have tried using the most recent version from the Intel website, but it ends up causing a different error all together (DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION if I remember correctly). I've tried factory resetting my computer on two different occasions and tried a couple different versions of the driver with no luck. As of now, all my drivers are fully up to date (with the exception of the Wireless driver since I'm using the one the Asus site recommends). Does anyone have an idea on how I can fix this?

WiFi connectivity issue with Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN

Hello. My Dell Studio 1555 laptop will not wirelessly connect with my FioS router though available WiFi networks are shown. This is a sudden development, having previously worked. Other wireless devices are working well off the same router. (Using router now via Ethernet cable).  Laptop network diagnostics state there is a Network Adapter issue. I am running Windows 10, and the Network Diagnostic utility has tested and reset the network connection to no avail. The Intel download assistant/diagnostic agent tested the device and stated it is working properly. The Intel site states support is no longer provided for my wireless network adapter - the Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN (hence this outreach to this esteemed community). I have scanned the computer for errors, and rebooted. I have rebooted the router.  All my drivers are said to be updated.  I have removed the router from list of available connectivity options and re-entered the key/password.  This is confounding! Would love to get a solution. Thanks in advance for your time and inputs.

intel wireless 8265 linux: can't connect and work with bluetooth handsets

Hi,

I'm using laptop from system76 (galago model) which has Intel Wireless 8265NGW.

Here is the photo of the device.

OS: Linux

The problem: I can't connect my bluetooth handset devices (I have two of them) to my laptop: the device may get connected but for a 5 - 10 seconds only, then get's disconnected but the laptop thinks it's connected. Something quite weird goes on there.

If I connect my android smartphone to laptop -- everything goes well and fast and reliable.

But not handsets !

These handsets connect to any bluetooth device I have in my home (several tablets, dell 3350 laptop under linux, to smartphone -- I mean they are working !)

I tried different bluetooth managers (NetworkManager, blueman, Gnome-specific, something else) -- all works in a same way.

I haven't tried windows, I have only Linux on my laptop.

Here are the video I recorder for system76 support team (they didn't help me):

attaching dmesg (I may say nothing gets to dmesg when I try to connect to handsets).

Is there is anything else I need to provide ? some info ?

Thank you,

Upgrading from 3160HMW to 7260HMW

I'm looking to upgrade my MSI laptop's wireless-AC card from a 3160HMW to 7160HMW.  The 7260HMW was discontinued by Intel quite a while ago, so I'm checking the secondary markets for a card.  I see a lot of the wireless-AC cards available for the secondary market are labeled "PTA APPROVED MODEL".  I presume that the label is to satisfy Pakistani regulations for sale of radio equipment here, but is the underlying hardware exactly the same as other 7260HMW cards sold in the rest of the world?  That is, if I bought a "PTA" card for use in Canada, would it work?

Thanks,

Bryan

Intel Wireless AC 7260 driver frequently has issues on startup

$

Since late last month I have been having frequent issues with my Sager laptop's wifi card. This is the factory installed one. I tried using the latest generic drivers and it still has issues periodically, including every time I wake my laptop up from sleep or hibernation and often when I restart it. I have Windows 10 Pro installed as the OS, and looking at the Event Viewer it seems the driver frequently forces the chip to restart until the whole thing glitches out and I have to try disabling and enabling the wifi card or using the repair functionality on the driver installer. I have tried the 6 most recent driver versions, each time typically installing the matching bluetooth driver. All of them still cause this issue. Going back to the drivers from 2015, the latest ones available for my laptop on Sager's site itself, those also have issues now, though the last time I tried them I had at least couple days of no issues on startup before it started having trouble again. I noticed someone else posting about this issue was asked to post a certain log giving details of their setup, and I will go ahead and attach that, the wlanreport, to this. I'm wondering, if nothing else suggested helps, if it's possible to access some drivers from 2016 and earlier on in 2017 so I can see if one of those is more reliable? None of those drivers seem to be available on this site, but I may just have missed them somewhere.

Intel AC9260 install issue

My computer upgrade from windows 7 Pro to Windows 10 pro. Then I install AC9260 in my Dell Optiplex XE2.

However I couldn't install Intel AC9260 smoothly.

I try to install  AC9260 in two different Optiplex XE2, both have them have the same issue. I try several driver "WiFi_20.10,WiFi_20.30,WiFi_20.40,WiFi_20.50,WiFi_20.60 Driver64_Win10".

Still couldn't make AC9260 work properly.

1. Couldn't radio on/off correctly.

2. Couldn't find any SSID.

3. wi-Fi status incorrectly.

intel dual band wireless AC 8260 does connect to wifi BUT without being able to use wifi

Hello Everybody!

I have horrible issues with my brand new ASUS FX 502V.  It has an Intel AC 8260 wifi which does not work properly: the situation is as follows

- It connects merely to my home wifi and 10% of other home wifis

- It does not connect to public wifis (cafes, hotels, etc).

- I have tried rebooting the network

- I have tried deleting and reinstalling the network adaptor plug and play

- I have tried unticking the "power managment" of the adaptor.

- I have formatted the computer from zero (eventhough it is brand new).

- FUN FACT: I can always connect to LTE/3G cellphone internet sharing!

- I live in Argentina (and the computer is from USA)

The problem is that I have a very powerful computer but I cannot use it without wifi so I am doomed to use an ethernet cable if possible or to my Iphone.

I have already tried all measures suggested by Asus (all of them) and since I live in ARgentina and there is no local support, I dont know what else to do.

I would really appreciate if you could help me up guys,

Thanks a lot

Your support documentation outright lies

Dear Intel,

Your wireless adapters are essentially inescapable and yet, despite rather reasonable hardware, are utterly useless for any application requiring a stable latency. And the worst part is that it's not even a crippling hardware defect, nor is it some impossible to solve issue tied to core functionality. It literally comes from you disabling a previously available feature, and it's driving me nuts. So I'm really just venting. I don't expect anyone to care, nor do I expect anything to change. You have had years to listen to the community and make the simple change. But no. You're Intel, and you're big and mighty, and you just can't be bothered.
What am I talking about? I'm talking about your wireless card's insistence on roaming for a stronger wireless access point, no matter what 'Roaming Aggressiveness' setting you select. Mind you, this completely contradicts your own documentation, which states that it "doesn't roam" except in cases of "significant link quality degradation". (Wi-Fi Roaming Aggressiveness ) Well apparently -32dBm is considered 'significant link quality degradation', because it still bloody roams every 10 minutes on the dot. And god forbid I move into the next room with -40dBm. That's extra significant degradation, so roaming every minute is appropriate. And it's not like it's a minor disruption. It's 2-3 seconds of effectively dropped packets to the router, as the latency spikes from 1ms to 120+.
But you know what the real icing on the cake is for me? YOU TOOK AWAY THE ABILITY TO ACTUALLY TURN IT OFF!!! See, you used to be able to do a regedit and actually disable roaming. See, I've had the unique displeasure of having to deal with your 3160, 7260, 7265, 8260 and now, the 9260. And you have actually made the problem worse. The ScanWhenAssociated setting used to actually exist in the registry. You just went in, set it to 0, and off you went to the races with excellent connection quality. Then with driver updates and some irritated users on your forums, you quietly removed the registry value. Luckily, you could still manually add it. Bam! Like magic, the seemingly worthless dumpster fire of a wireless adapter went from being worse than a USB dongle adapter, to an actually reasonable and usable device. And so it was, all the way up through driver version 17.15.05. Then came driver version 18, and you just had to disable it didn't you? Just couldn't stand your devices actually behaving the way users wanted them to, and the way your documentation claims they do. Nooooo, that's just not the way of important modern companies. You needed to take a perfectly working 7260 and turn it back into a worthless trash heap. Luckily, I had a back-up of the good old driver, and happily restored my card to working condition. But fast-forward a couple of years, the newer generations of cards don't run on the older drivers, and you still haven't re-enabled the ability to turn off the stupid roaming.
And so, here I am, ranting. Why? Because I felt like it, and because I wanted to be sure you knew exactly why I will never recommend your adapters to anyone and strongly advise they go with a solution from Broadcom, D-Link, or even Realtek any time they can.

Have a pleasant whatever-time-of-day-it-is. Call me when you re-enable the ability to turn off roaming.

Copy process / connection break down when sending files over 9260 card

I have the following issue with an Intel 9260 wifi card. The moment I send (larger) files into the LAN (for example samba or Windows 10 network share), the copy process of Windows explorer (with a high chance, does not happen every time, but with a very high chance):

- goes to 0kb/s then jumps up again after some time or

- Windows gives an internal network error (Wifi driver seems to crash)

While this happens, and having a permanent ping open next to the copy, the moment the copy breaks down, the Acces Point isn't reachable anymore:

Z8S4OaD.png

The images show, that after 1-2 seconds of the copy process, the copy rate drops to 0, in this moment the access point isn't reachable anymore via ping. If I'm lucky, like in this picture, after a short period of time, it goes slowly up again. But I also had it happen too now very often, that the ping breaks down into "internal network error" and the copy process is abrupted. The wifi driver mostly crashes at this moment, and Windows tries to reload the driver.

I tried two access points, and it happens on both of them, so the issues seem to lay in the Intel card or its drivers. I am using the latest available drivers for the 9260 card and Windows 10 64bit, version 20.60.0.

Receiving files work without an issue, from the LAN to the 9260 card. This issue just happens, when I send away files from the laptop, into the LAN.

The connection is 866Mbit (2x80Mhz). I tried two separate access points, both show the same behavior.

Edit:

I just noticed that I can randomly crash the Access Point by this (after some tries, copying a large file over the LAN, the access point would restart randomly)

d77mbIh.png

I can see this behavior on two different routers/access points. One is a Linksys WRT1200, another a totally different model and brand by a totally different manufacturer.

Intel 8265 40Mhz Channel Width

Hi guys,

I hope you can help me understand the behavior of the 8265 wireless card.

Recently I was testing my wireless configuration. The previous config was only using 20MHz per AP. I wanted to change the channel width to 40MHz on my 11ac. On my WLC I set my AP to 40MHz. The AP summary seemed to be correct since the APs showed channel bonding. The frequency showed on my Acrylic WiFi Home seemed to be correct too, the AP bonds 2 channels.

I tested the 40MHz channel width with 3 laptops, 1 Thinkpad T480S and 2 Thinkpad T470S. Both T480S and T470S are using Intel 8265, with T470S running on 20.10.0.6 and T480S running on 20.10.2.2. Only 1 T470S is able to 'read' the 40MHz, while the other 2 still 'read' the 20MHz. I know this by speed indicated on WiFi Status. Any idea why? All settings are the same. The only setting I could think of to impact this is Fat Channel Intolerance, which is I already disabled.

Thank you.

Intel 8265NGW antenna connectors

Hi,

I have question regarding antenna connectors on Wireless module Intel 8265NGW. There are two connectors marked 1 AUX and 2 MAIN. We want to use 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz antenna in our design. According to recomodations on web, you should plug in 5Ghz antenna to AUX and 2.4GHz antenna to MAIN connector. But after testing with our microstrip dual 5G/2.4G antenna we found out, that better results (speed, range, Bit error rate) are achieved if antennas are switched - 2G to AUX and 5G to MAIN connector.

Can you please provide information, what is difference between MAIN and AUX connectors and what is recomended configuration of antennas?
