Hello,

Can anyone confirm that the Intel Dual Band AC 8265 M.2 2230 Desktop Kit (Product Brief: Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265 Desktop Kit) is essentially the same card as the laptop version? I basically want to know if I can purchase the desktop kit and just use the AC 8265 network card for replacing the AC 3165 card in my Dell laptop.

Thanks!

Problems with AC 8265 adapter

Hello guys!

I have problems with my Intel wireless adapter AC 8265 installed on my Asus X510UQ laptop with Windows 10 Pro.
It starts working and works for some time but then drops the Internet connection while still being connected to our 2.4 GHz network. I noticed that it would still exchange data with our wifi but that data is around a couple of kilobytes.
The other laptops my neighbors have work absolutely fine (even with lower signal adapters). I have tried deleting the drivers and reinstalling them numerous times ( at some point I reinstalled the whole system) - nothing changed. I tried using the version that came with the installation disc (19.40) but it was overwritten by Windows inbox driver ver. 19.50. I used the latest driver - 20.10 - and it didn't fix that, even though the speed were higher when it actually managed to work.

I wonder if my new laptop needs to be replaced because of a faulty adapter. I would also appreciate if there's a fix for that or any diagnostics I can try.

Thank you.

Wifi starts fast and then drops

I have an MSI 17 in laptop that has worked fine until this week. All of a sudden my internet has dropped to become ridiculously slow. I know the internet connectivity is not my laptop as I have several other laptops on the network as well as phones, game consoles, etc, and they all work fine. I have an Intel Dual Band Wifi chip which I've tried updating the driver for and completely uninstalling and reinstalling. I've tried getting rid of my wifi profiles. I've resetting WinSock and different network services. Nothing seems to work whatsoever. Here are screen shots of the device dropping in speed:

error2.png

My other computer (which is less powerful mind you) gets consistently under 20ms when pinging google.

Any help would be appreciated. This is my primary pc . I just felt like I've tried everything at this point.

The specific chip is the Intel Dial Band Wireless AC3165

KRACK - WPA2 vulnerability - Panasonic FZG1

Hello,

We would like to know if Panasonic FZG1 is affected by the WPA2 vulnerability.

Latest driver available from Panasonic is 17.1.0.19 (Wireless adapter AC-7265).

There is no information about version 17.1.x.x on the following page : https://security-center.intel.com/advisory.aspx?intelid=INTEL-SA-00101&languageid=en-fr

Does that means that version 17.1.0.19 is not impacted or does that means that this version is out of support and may be impacted (Intel is at version 19.10.x.x and 19.51.x.x) ?

Kind regards,

Michel

AC8260 can not connect to wifi network - urgent, please help

Hi I have a DELL Precision 5520 laptop running windows 10 enterprise version. I recently get a new ATT NVG599 modem, I can not connect to the home wifi network. It sees the wifi network but just wont connect. I tried several ways and even asked ATT to send me another dual band DSL router. Please help, I am a tech guy and I tried following:

- reboot router/laptop

- change wifi to open network

- change adapter parameters

- scan for updated driver

- talk to ATT support

I know router is ok because I have other laptops and iphone connect to this wifi without any problem, and this laptop worked with previous DSL modem (2wire single band) with out problem, though at lower speed.

Is it possible the adapter driver need some change or parameter tuning?

Appreciate any help.

Dave

AC-3165 Low Throughput

I've been struggling with the throughput of the wireless adapter in my laptop. On the best of days it can only average about 35-45/mb even when sitting next to the wireless router. All the drivers and bios has been updated with the latest revisions. Router is set for N only currently using 2.4ghz. I've attached the results from the SSU.

Intel® Wireless-AC 9560 Compatibility - Alienware 17R4

Is Intel® Wireless-AC 9560 compatible with Alienware 17R4? I have seen in other forums which claim 8265 and 8260 to be compatible. But in the product specs page for 9560 and 8265 I see some differences in connector interface. For Intel 9560: Connector interface: CNVio, for Intel 8265: Connector interface: M.2: PCIe, USB, or UART (M.2 1216 only).

Low download speeds w/ Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265

Hi:

I am having issues with the WiFi performance on a Lenovo X1 (5th Gen).  For a while it has shown bad download speeds.  I am basically comparing it to an HP EliteBook 8440p with the same software (Windows 10), obviously connected to the same network, on Chrome, and via Speedtest.net.  The EliteBook 8440p (6-8 year old computer) blows the new X1 out of the water.  It has double the throughput in download and upload speeds.  The performance is 20 mbps upload and download for X1 vs. 45 mbps for EliteBook.

I was thinking there might be some background process taking up some network capability, but there is none.  And, it would have to be a HUGE network consumption to account for such a difference.  I tried updating the WiFi driver and that seemed to help a little (up to 30 mbps at times), but still lacking.

When using the same network but on a 5 GHz channel, speeds are normal (same to HP laptop).  Also, when the laptop is very close to the router (Apple Extreme), speeds are as expected (equal to HP Laptop).

Any suggestion is very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Yet another complaint about your 7260/8260/8265 Chipsets

Dear Intel, (and note to the wider community),

I have nowhere left to turn, so I am coming back to the source..... Our company sees fit to use Dell Laptops, a reasonable choice I would argue, and for a number of years now they have all worked reasonably well; last count we now have approaching 6500 such devices now,  and all are equipped with Intel Wireless Adaptors; the 7260, 8260 and now the 8265, and since July 2016 thing have been getting progressively worse. Round about the time that you released PROSet/Wireless WiFi Software v. 19.0.1.

Each and every laptop that has been upgraded to this version Drivers and beyond since July 2016 has resulted in the Wireless not working as it should!

The highest connection speed that the laptops are able to sustain is 173.3Mbps when they should be obtaining connection speeds to the AP at around the 866.7Mbps mark (to be precise) .... All because the Intel Drivers have messed up the settings (somehow) preventing full AC Capability.

Because of this .... low starting point (lets call it - trying not to swear) ... a lot of users are not able to connect to the Wireless network at all if they stray from anywhere but directly beneath the Access-Point, yet their personal devices sat next to them on the desk/table/whatever, using the very same access point are all getting 5-bars connecting at 866.7Mbps.  MacBook Pros get 1300 Mbps connection speed..... and the list goes on .... all around me devices are connecting at AC Capable speeds, all except the Dells with your Chipsets!

For reference i have attempted to use ProSet versions from 21.10.2 down to 19.0.1 yet the connection speed to the AP never budges: it remains steadfast at 173.3Mpbs. So please do not advise my using the latest version .... as i have proven time and time again to anyone with any technical know-how within our organisation that there is not one version since 19.0.1 that now works.

I have even deleted all trace of the Proset Software, deleted all of the Driver Files from the System32 folder of prior versions and installed JUST the drivers for the Adaptor for all of the version listed above with exactly the same results: 173.3Mbps! Never More, but sometimes a little less.

Only when i downgrade Drivers to 18.33.x.x (for the 7260s) and 18.40.x.x (8260's) do I see an improvement. 866.7Mbps connection speed every time without fail thank you very much. Just like it used to be ..... until ProSet Version 19 came along and ruined it all.

So why are these Dell laptop with your Wireless Adaptors failing to work correctly...... Surely Intel are aware of the tidal wave of hate towards these particular cards (just Google Intel 7260/8260/8265 - [delete as appropriate] - [add any swearword of your choosing] ....)  .... so why are Intel not doing anything to fix it???? If you are doing something to fix it..... you've had since July 2016 .... is a fix forthcoming? Or do i need to approach Apple and purchase 6500 MacBook Pros?

would love to hear your response on this .....

many thanks

Michael

Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165 difficulties connecting

I have Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165. Windows 10 pro. I've tried every solution so far; resetting, updating, downgrading driver, delete, changing parameters etc. but nothing helps. The thing is when my HP notebook wakes after sleep it takes time to find my wireless network. It takes everything from 10 seconds to a couple of minutes and sometimes not at all. Or it finds it but stays in connection mode. The problem comes and goes and has been a problem for the last 6-8 months. I can reset the network and I got no problem for 2-10 days and then it starts over again with not connecting with no reason so far I can see. I get the warning: 6105 - deauth after EAPOL key exchange sequence.

Wifi device 8265 disconnects

Hello,

I bought my new Yoga 720 a few weeks ago, and I am experiencing some troubles to connect to Wifi, and it is the only way to connect the computer to the network. The connection is random as sometimes, it will be connected at very high rate and working fine (such as now), but other times, there will be no access and Windows will show no wifi networks available. Sometimes, the device is shown as disconnected in the device manager and when restarting it comes back (but still no conection).

I have tried many solutions, such as:

- Run Windows Repair Tool

- Run Restore Network from Windows 10 (which disconnects every network adapter, restart and installs all the adapters again).

- Remove Firewall.

- Disable the RSC and decreasing the MTU speed from 1500 to 1400, and checked that other input in configuration are OK with Intel, Windows and Lenovo configurations

- Download the latest driver from intel (which is more recent 20.0 vs 19.50.1 installed).

- Repeat the previous steps with the new driver.

- Check for other updates: I updated the BIOS with the latest version from Lenovo for this computer.

- Run all the previous steps (changing the drivers type).

Today I have reinstalled Windows again from the beginning, first keeping my files, and secondly without keeping my files, but still having the same problem. I have checked everything I could, from BIOS to Windows and uninstalling every program to avoid any conflict, but still connection is not reliable. Do you know what can be happening, and what could be the solution?

Thank you in advance,

Regards.

Intel AC-3165 Bluetooth Nightmare

I am having problems connecting bluetooth devices to my pc (the board is a gigabyte mitx ab-350m).  For the most part devices are detected however will never connect.

I should mention 2 observations: (1) that "Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R)" is listed as an "other devices" in the Windows 10 "bluetooth & other devices" menu (2) When uninstalling the bluetooth driver in "device manager" an "Unknown USB Device (device descriptor request failed)" appears under USB devices.

I have tried nearly every suggestion posted in the intel support forums and other online discussions.  These include: uninstalling bluetooth drivers in "program and features" and "device manager"; starting, resetting and changing settings for bluetooth services in the service menu; updating both the wifi and bluetooth drivers in "device manager"; using the motherboard installation and intel's own installation executes to reinstall and uninstall drivers, using cleanmgr.exe after having uninstalled; shutting down and removing the power cable and repeatedly pressing the power button (//this somehow made the uninstalled bluetooth driver appear installed in "device manager" when the  "unknown usb device" had appeared//).

Sorry thats a lot of reading hopefully someone has experienced this and can suggest something that will resolve these bluetooth woes.

Wireless AC 8265 recently stopped working on my HP Zbook

The Dual Band Wireless AC 8265 recently stopped working on my HP Zbook running 64-bit Windows 10.

I can't tell if it's a hardware or software issue.

Device Manager says "The device is working properly".

However no wireless device shows up under Network Connections.

The driver version is 19.71.0.4. I downloaded and tried manually installing v20.10.2.2. During the install, always complains (in event viewer) about not being able to start the Netwtw06 service with the following message:

Device PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_24FD&SUBSYS_00108086&REV_78\4&12aabb1b&0&00E0 had a problem starting.

     Driver Name: oem103.inf
     Class Guid: {4d36e972-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}
     Service: Netwtw06
     Lower Filters:
     Upper Filters: vwifibus
     Problem: 0x15
     Problem Status: 0x0

Then the driver automatically reverts back to 19.71.0.4.

I think the message

Device PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_24FD&SUBSYS_00108086&REV_78\4&12aabb1b&0&00E0 had a problem starting.

     Driver Name: oem57.inf
     Class Guid: {4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
     Service: Netwtw04
     Lower Filters:
     Upper Filters: vwifibus
     Problem: 0x15
     Problem Status: 0x0

is connected with v19.71.0.4 also not being able to start.

Strangely, perhaps, Windows complains that the update described as

      Intel - net - 6/25/2017 12:00:00 AM - 19.71.0.4

is available to install. Always fails to update/install when tried.

Besides revering to a previous version of the driver (didn't work), I tried uninstalling the driver/device, then rebooting and having Windows look for hardware changes (also didn't work).

At a loss regarding what to do.

Worked fine about a week ago.

Hardware problem requiring service call?

Thanks,

slow wifi 2,4 ghz with ac 8265 @ yoga 720 13IKB

Hello,

I have recently purchased a Yoga 720 13LKB with Intel AC 8265, Win 10 64 bit as OS. Now the issues I'm experiencing are twofold and the following:

1. Slow Wifi connection if a 2,4 GhZ frequency is chosen, whereas it is fast as it should be if I choose the 5 GhZ frequency. On the 5 ghz frequency, I get 30 Mbp/s, whereas on the 2,4 ghz frequency at most 10 Mb/s.

At the same time, my mobile phone and a very old notebook with a generally very bad Broadcom chip deliver on both connections the speed they should, on these devices, regardless of the frequency I always get 30 Mbp/.s

I had a look in the energy settings of Windows as well as into the advanced settings of my network card and tried various settings (I also read intensely on this board and tried many of the recommendations I found), none of which improved the speed on the 2,4 ghz frequency

2. On both the 5 ghz frequency and 2,4 ghz frequency, the range is much more limited on my Yoga than it is on my mobile phone and my old computer. I understand this in the case of the 5 ghz frequency, but there seems to be a serious issue with the 2,4 ghz frequency

I should stress the fact that these issues occur with different routers, the one I'm actually using is a FritzBox 7490 but the same issues held for some Netgear Router (the model of which I don't remember). Right now, I'm running the Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software and Drivers version 19.60.0, but I also tried different (older) drivers, none of which improved the speed on the 2,4 ghz frequency.

Thanks in advance for your help!
