Disable PROSet/Wireless in a Script

I need to switch to Windows to manage WiFi connections instead of PROSet/ Wireless on several thousand clients.  Is there a way to disabled the PROSet/Wireless Utility and switch to use Windows to manage WiFi in a scriptable fashion - e.g. disabling a service and enabling another or a command that can be run at a command prompt?

Admin Profile - WPA2+TLS using Machine Cert

Using the PROSet/Wireless Admin tool, I'm attempting to create a profile package containing a persistent and pre-login/common profile configured for WPA2 + TLS using a machine certificate. Once the profile is applied and a user has logged on, the profile switches to using a user cert (verified by netsh ras tracing). Is there a way to force the use of a machine cert regardless of a user logged on or off?

Intel PROSet wireless software; 802.1x associating issues; Intel Wireless Troubleshooter/Manual Diagnostic Tool do nothing

Very strange behaviour..

Intel PROSet.. seemingly overnight..

a. Just stopped being to associate 802.1x/Enterprise based wireless networks.  Personal sec (PSK) is fine.  But 802.1x/enterprise networks it can't associate to.

I can default to Microsoft Windows utility and it connects fine.

b. To make matters worse in the PROSet utility, Tools -> Intel Wireless Troubleshooter and Tools -> Manual Diagnostic Tool do nothing. I can select them from the Tools menu and it does nothing.

Infact, the Intel Wireless Troubleshooter, when selected, says 'Operation Command Successfully' .. but eventuates nothing ?

So I can't even see what output/error i'm seeing why it can't connect...

Do I need to clean out PROset ? I've already done this.. with a basic uninstall..purge all profiles, etc.

Maybe a cleanup tool exists ?

Intel Proset Wireless Cannot Import Profiles with TLS/Machine Cert

Hi there

We are trying to deploy a new wireless profile using TLS and Machine Certificates settings. However, our users cannot import these profiles without running the Intel Proset apps as an administrator. The apps will hang in the process. Dropping the exported profile into the AutoImport also failed. The autoimport log stated that "this settings is only available to administrators......" Had anyone ran into this problem? Thanks

Wireless Adaptor TX power in dBm

$

Within various intel documentation it lists the following explanation with regards to adaptor TX power settings......

The optimal setting is to set the transmit power at the lowest possible level still compatible with communication quality. The setting allows the maximum number of wireless devices to operate in dense areas. It reduces interference with other devices that share the radio spectrum. If you decrease the transmit power, you reduce the radio coverage.

  • Lowest: Sets the adapter to the lowest transmit power. Increase the number of coverage areas or confine a coverage area. You should reduce the coverage area in high traffic areas to improve overall transmission quality and avoid congestion or interference with other devices.
  • Medium-low, Medium, or Medium-high: Set by country requirements.
  • Highest (Default): Sets the transmit level of the adapter to a maximum. Use this setting in environments with limited radio devices for maximum performance and range.

What are the dBm ranges or fixed rate associated with each setting???

Intel Wireless Driver generating unnecessary windows events

$

I have been suffering for some time from the windows event log being filled with an unnecessary events of the form:

Source: Netwtw06

Level: Information

EventId: 7023

Message: 7023 - Intel proprietary

These are occurring at a rate of 1 a minute.

This issue is similar to Wireless driver spamming Windows Event Log

I have reinstalled the latest driver following your clean install procedure at Clean Installation of Wireless Drivers

The latest software I now have installed is Intel PROset/Wireless Software version 20.50.0.

The wireless driver I am using is for the Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265 version 20.50.0.4

I know that Intel's answer in the past has been to place a filter on the windows event log to exclude the erroneous events.

However I feel as this is generating between 20000-40000 events per month, Intel should really deal with the removal of these events.

Wireless Event Viewer & Windows 10

I have tried to enable driver event logging in the PRO/SET admin tools (v20.40.0), but cannot get the Wireless Event Viewer to start. Apparently this tool is no longer supported in Windows 10? If I need to log driver events for my Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260, which tool should I use?

[Bug] Bluetooth AC-3165 sound stutters nonstop when I rewind a video on a website.

Hello,

I have an Inspiron i5577 with AC-3165 w/BT. For a long time now, sometimes when I rewind a video on Firefox or Chrome, on any website, with a fresh Windows 10 installation, the video and audio becomes choppy. Imagine looking at a video that only plays 1 Frame Per Second. It plays for quarter of a second, stops, plays again, stops, etc. Once the stutter begins, every sound played through other sources such as local MP3 or Windows notification sound also stutter.

If I rewind videos on a local MP4 file it never starts stuttering. It never starts stuttering with wired earphones. The stutter is always initiated when changing a video playback position on the browser. The more frequently I change the position, the more likely it stutters. Sometimes it stutters only for a second after rewinding but continues to play. When this initial one-time stutter happens, it always starts stuttering permanently after subsequent rewinding. Rewind once - it stutters once but plays fine. Rewind again - it stutters forever.

I have tested it with two BT headsets manufactured by different companies, as well as on two web browsers. The problem is with the Bluetooth adapter or drivers.

I have followed Mr. Carlos A.'s advice to reinstall WiFi and BT adapters but that hasn't solved it-3165 Bluetooth cuts of minus of a second that affects all devices connected. Dell Inspiron 7000 17" on W10. I've done… (tried Dell's WiFi/BT drivers too).

To temporarily fix the problem I disable and re-enable the BT adapter. The BT headphone automatically pairs and it plays fine after the reset. Sometimes the stutter happens multiple times in 10 minutes, sometimes once an hour. It makes media consumption through BT highly unpleasant.

I've attached Intel System utility log to this thread with a hope that someone can help troubleshoot it. I'm willing to go through technical steps. Thanks in advance!

EDIT:  Here is a more detailed look at the problem. Open a YouTube video and play. Click on a rewind bar to skip ahead. Do it again. It starts stuttering. Click on Windows 10 notification button (bottom-right corner of taskbar) and from the action panel click on the Bluetooth card twice to disable and re-enable. Once the Bluetooth is disabled, what surprises me is that the video automatically stops. If I try to rewind the video while BT is being reset, it won't play. The video starts playing automatically on its own once the BT finishes resetting and pairs the BT headset. As soon as its automatically paired the video resumes with a proper sound.

Wireless driver spamming Windows Event Log

This is for a Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260 chip on a Lenovo P50. The driver for the wireless chip keeps posting this to the Application Event Log every 9-11 seconds:

Source: Netwtw06

Event ID: 7023

Level: Information

Content: 7077 - Intel proprietary

It's cluttering my event log and making it difficult to find anything useful.

I have the latest version of the driver (20.30.1).

Is there any way to turn off this event logging? Or can it be removed in the next version?

Wireless-AC 9xxx Series only compatible with Z370 Chipset

I just bought a Intel Wireless-AC 9260NGW to replace the 3165NGW part that sometimes causes kernel panics (in iwlwifi) for me.

As you might expect from such a new part, it did not work at all (did not show up as a device). The seller (a company that also "mobile integrates" laptops, ) confirmed to me multiple times that only the Intel Z370 Chipset is supported by the newer Intel Wireless-AC products, which they have verified.

The CPU in question is an Intel Celeron N3450 (in a ZOTAC ZBOX CI327).

Is it true that your newer M.2 (NOT CNVio) wireless chips are locked to specific Intel chipsets, and if so, why is that not documented in the product specifications?

Both products are specified as having an "PCIe, USB, M.2 2230" interface.

Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 - No Wi-Fi networks found

Hi

I've just installed the Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 on my motherboard as I wanted to get rid of the USB Wi-Fi stick I'm currently using to connect to my Wi-Fi router. Unfortunately, Wireless-AC 7265 cannot find any networks as you can see in the attachment available_networks.PNG. "Wi-Fi" is the Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 whereas "Wi-Fi 3" is the USB Wi-Fi stick as you can see in the attachment network_connections.PNG.

I have tried the following things so far:

- Installed the newest drivers from Intel: WiFi_20.50.0_PROSet64_Win10.exe

- Updated the BIOS to the newest version

- Installed all available Windows Updates

Also, I have tried to uninstall the USB Wi-Fi stick in the Device Manager in hope that this is somehow interfering. Unfortunately, that didn't help either.

I have also attached the SSU scan and hope someone is able to help.

Thanks in advance,

Marco

AC8260 & AC8265 major connection issues with Asus routers ...

$

I have tried 2 separate HP Laptops, one with AC8260 and one with AC8265 cards,

and both have issues sustaining a solid connection to my RT-AC1900P (RT-AC68U)

Asus router on the 2.4Ghz band. The connection will randomly lose pings to the router

for about 20 seconds then fix itself, however the wireless link remains connected.

Laptops are Spectre x360 (one Pro - older model) and one newest Intel 8th Gen.

This is on both laptops running latest drivers 20.40.0.4 (also tried many older ones),

and Windows 10 Pro x64 (latest updates). The wireless network has a strong connection

and it's always full bars and 144/144 Mbps (this is running on a 20 Mhz channel width),

although I've tried many other options, including changing power options in the Intel

Wireless drivers as recommended on Intel Technical Bulletins, without success.

New installs of Windows 10, as well as factory resets, tried everything ...

Sometimes the issues happens every minute, sometimes every ~10 minutes.

The same cards seem to work fine with an Asus RT-N66U on 2.4Ghz band.

What's the next step for troubleshooting this issue ?

Thanks in advance!

I want to connect to a specific AP, but all use the same SSID

Please forgive my errors and just tell how to do better.

I am trying to connect to Internet over one of several WiFi APs that all have the same SSID. I am told that some work and some are terrible. That seems to be correct. They have distinct MAC addresses (BSSID). Is there a way to use my AC-7260 to connect using the MAC address, or any 'best way' that I can connect to a specific AP?

Intel dual band 7260AC for desktop hangs on Windows 10 creator edition with IPv6 enabled

$

I was previously running Windows 10 64-bit Anniversary edition 1607 without any problems.

I have an Intel dual band 7260AC for desktop installed with IPv4 and IPv6 enabled, driver version 18.33.6.2 from the wireless proset version 19.50.1

A few days ago, I installed the update to the new Windows 10 Creator edition 1703 and ALL applications, including console programs like 'nslookup' and 'ping', using the wirless network started to become 'not responding' after a few minutes or less.

Once an application 'hung', it could not be terminated from task manager, giving an 'access denied' error when attempting and 'end task'.

If I disabled the Intel 7260AC adapter and using a wired Broadcom ethernet connection, everything worked normally again.

After disabling IPv6 on the Intel 7260AC, the wireless network ALSO worked again without hanging.

Looking at the symptoms, it seems there is a problem with the 18.33.6.2 driver on Windows 10 Creator edition, where an application gets 'hung' inside the system call to the driver, because they can't be terminated anymore.

I didn't see any newer drivers available and was wondering if other people have encountered similar problems or are using a 7260AC adapter with IPv6 enabled normally?

Adri.

有没有人遇到过,最新的windows 1803版本,接上有线网,无线网会自动关闭,而且手动打开WLAN,还是会自动断开。拔掉有线网之后,WLAN就恢复正常,再插网线依然会挤掉无线网。
