Driver disconnected while associating

$

We have a Dell Inspiron 5537, originally Win8, which we updated to Win8.1. No problems.  Then upgraded to Win10, but no internet connection and no sound!  So reverted to Win8.1.  No problems.

Then, through Windows Update this week, updated Win8.1 with a few optional upgrades, including Intel wireless network adapter N-7260.  Lost the internet connection!  It would sometimes work and sometimes not. Endless troubleshootiing made no difference. Since there was nothing to lose, upgraded to Win10, hoping it would solve the problem, but it didn't.

More endless troubleshooting.  No change. Troubleshooter would say, "wireless network adapter fixed" but it never was. Generated a report (netsh wlan show wlanreport), which showed 92 occasions of "driver disconnected while associating."

*  Looking at the properties of the Intel N-7260, I noticed this comment:

Error from intel driver install:

Device PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_08B1&SUBSYS_44628086&REV_73\FCF8AEFFFF264BD900 requires further installation.

Also, went to Dell Support.  It identified 5 updates, which it downloaded and installed:

Inspiron 5537 BIOS

Intel graphic family driver/video driver

Intel dual-band wireless AC 7260/network driver (although I don't see this one listed in Device Manager. ...)

Intel management engine interface driver

Intel rapid storage tech driver.

On a restart, internet connected after a few minutes.  Stayed on for a while, and then disconnected again.  Seems to go on or off at random.

Help!  This laptop is used by my wife for business, and she needs it to work!

Wireless AC-3160 problems resolved

My new Dell laptop came with this adapter and for days I tried to make it work.  It would constantly drop DNS even though the IP address had the proper DNS server, reconnecting for a while after ipconfig release/renew.  I tried all the suggestions posted in the 3160 threads.  Finally, after several drivers and configuration changes, I replaced my old Linksys WRT54GS and all the problems went away.  This adapter just doesn't work with this old single band (2.4) router.  It's a shame because all my other devices (6 of them) work fine with it.

It works well with the new router (Linksys e2500) btw; no complaints.

Windows 10 and Dual Band ac 7260 adapter driver incompatability

HI, I have a Dell Inspiron 17 PC. I upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 and all was good.   This weekend I installed an update to Windows 10 and now I can not get out of airplane mode nor turn on WiFi.  I've spent days with Microsoft and they say it is because the Intel Dual Band Wireless ac 7260 drive is not compatible with the latest Windows 10 update.  I have the latest  driver installed.  Is there another driver available or another solution? Thanks.

AC-7260 has been serially broken for 2 years, when will the fix ship?!

Intel published this revocation list about the AC-7260 and other wics containing a firmware/driver bug September 2013. It's now December 2015, and this WIC has been beyond broken this entire time. There's no fix, no device settings that will change this. To trigger the bug you just need a little wireless contention, like going to a Hotel.

When will we see a fix, if ever? I've seen other Intel employees saying turn it off and on again, however this is beyond disgusting.

Wireless-AC 3160 can only see connected network?

I have a Dell Vostro with an AC 3160.  When I am not connected to a wireless network, I can see the available networks.  If I connect to one, the other networks disappear and I can only see the one I'm connected to.  If I disconnect, I can again see all available networks.  Is this normal?

Intel 4965AGN weird disconnections

Hello.

I'm using my Intel 4965AGN wireless card on a Windows 7 Professional x64 system. The version of the drivers (as reported by the Device Manager) is 13.3.0.137. The card is connected to a 802.11n wireless network, operating in a 20MHz channel in the 2.4GHz band, run by a TP-Link TL-WR1043N router.

I'm experiencing very strange disconnections happenning at random points of time. The operating system reports that I'm still connected to the network, though, but I'm not able to ping any computer on the network or the router, let alone anything on the Internet. Disconnecting and reconnecting to the network doesn't seem to work at all. The only thing that helps is a reboot - after this, everything is back to normal operation again.

There are very mysterious entries in the Windows System Event Log that seem to correlate with the disconnections. Their source is NETwLv64 (which I believe is the 4965 driver file) and the event ID is either 5005 (only a few) or 5002 (a bunch). Unfortunately, the only text related to these is :

The description for Event ID {5002 or 5005} from source NETwLv64 cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

\Device\NDMP16
Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN

The specified resource type cannot be found in the image file

Any help would be greatly appreciated, even saying what these mean would be great, since I'd have a chance to maybe work out the problem. I've googled these event IDs, but sadly, only unanswered questions come up.

Thank you in advance,

D.K.

Anybody know of a network adapter driver I can use to continue using Windows 10 without going back to Windows 7 or 8?

Intel® Tri-Band Wireless-AC 17265 shown as Intel® Dualband Wireless-AC 7260 in Device Manager

Hey guys,

do you know if its normal that the Intel® Tri-Band Wireless-AC 17265 is shown as Intel® Dualband Wireless-AC 7260 in Device Manager under the Networkadapters Tab?
Ive problems getting Wigig to work on a Dell Latitute E5550. The Wigig Application is allways showing "Wigig reagiert nicht" recommending me to restart my PC, which doesnt help.

Its the same whether or not i use the original Dell Driver/Wigig Application from support.dell.com  or the Drivers/Wigig App found on the Intel Site.

According to the spec sheet of the 17265, it contains the 7265 to provide support normal WLAN and Bluetooth connectivity, so i guess its the correct status shown in the device manager. But then i am totaly lost, not knowing how to get the Wigig App working.

I also tried another 17265 in this PC, to rule out a defect of the card itself. But the issue is still the same.

NUC model D54250WYKH, Windows 10/64 Pro, Wireless-AC 7260, Bluetooth cannot discover devices

Newly-assembled NUC with the latest Win10/64 and the 7260 wireless card. Windows is fully updated, all drivers have been carefully manually updated one at a time to the latest (because the Intel driver update utility is broken and does not install drivers nor recognize when they are current), and the BIOS is flashed to the latest version as of today, 18 December 2015. Wireless 18.21.0 both driver executable and then software executable installed, in that order.

Wi fi works fine. System windows show BT is active and claim everything is working. The NUC can not discover any BT devices, nor is it, itself, discoverable. I can see the devices I tried on two different Macs as well as an iPad so they are definitely discoverable. Devices tried: Apple wireless bluetooth keyboard, Apple Magic Mouse, and the aforementioned iPad in wi fi hotspot mode. Again, each device is easily discovered by both Macs but the NUC apparently cannot see anything.

I have googled and read countless forum posts about trying to pair the Apple keyboard, and none of those suggestions help, yet this keyboard is simply a standard BT keyboard and others with other PC models pair them with no issue. From what I can tell the NUC with that card is simply blind to BT devices.

Any ideas or suggestions that I haven't already exhausted? Rather frustrated after burning most of a day on this with zero results.

Many thanks in advance!

Intel AC7260 problems

Hi there, I just excitedly bought 3 AC7260 cards for all our laptops in the house cause we upgraded our router to the RT-AC66U and let me tell you I am soooooo NOT impressed with these cards. They are horrible, I cannot keep a consistent connection with my router.

Computer #1 is a Dell 7720 running windows 8 and all I keep getting is constant unable to access network page errors that only say on a chrome web page:

Error code: ERR_NETWORK_CHANGED

In my intel event viewer I get around 3 lines marked Information..... authenticating wireless profile XXXXX every minute!!!!!! This can't be right???

Computer #2 is an XPS 15 running windows 7 home and I get the same problems as computer #1 just not as many chrome ERR pages.

Computer #3 is an Alienware M18 and it consistantly drops the wireless connection too. I had a bigfoot card in there previously and NEVER had any problems with losing wireless connections.

I'm using all the latest newest drivers on all my laptops and i just can't believe how troublesome these 7260's are. Anyone else actually have a 7260 thats rock solid and if so, how did you do it?

Intel 7265 adapter leads to BSOD (netwtw02.sys) in mesh wifi network

$

At my office we have a mesh wifi network (e.g. multiple accespoint broadcasting the same SSID name). However when I walk around with my Dell windows tablet windows 10 crashes when it gets connected to a different accesspoint. The BSOD is in netwtw02.sys.

Updated many times my wifi drivers, even to the latest beta drivers. Installed the PROSET software (also updated this several times to latest version) but it keeps having this problem. Also reset my tablet twice the couple of last week and even that didn't help.

I now put my tablet to sleep before going to another site of the office building, which works most of the time, but 1 out of 10 still leads to a crash when awake from this sleep. My tablet literally crashed 50-75 times the last couple of months. Last weekend I reset again my tablet, and today I had my first two crashes already. Unfortunate my job requires lots of meetings in different meeting places.

Note: using certificates to connect instead of loginnames. The access points are not visible (behind the roofs), but I think they are Cisco ones. I also checked and unchecked the box 'cisco settings - enable radio measurement' in ProSet. Also played with band selection mixed  band, 2.4ghz or 5ghz band only but nothing helps either (other then on the 2.4ghz band I get a 144mbs and on 5ghz I get al 300mbs connection performing very well).

Anybody having a solution?

Intel Dual Band Wireless-N 7260 WiFi disconnects at random intervals.

$

Hi all,

I've been doing a lot of reading on issues with the 7260 adapter. It seems that it is a very flawed product. We have observed frequent, random disconnects to WiFi networks.

Setup:
System Model:  HP EliteDesk 800 G1 USDT (or HP ZBook 15 G2)
BIOS Version/Date: Hewlett-Packard L01 v02.65, 13-7-2015
OS Name:  Microsoft Windows 7 Enterprise
Version:  6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601

Hardware Abstraction Layer Version: "6.1.7601.17514"
Product Type:  Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-N 7260
Driver:   c:\windows\system32\drivers\netwsw02.sys (18.21.0.2, 3,83 MB (4.011.760 bytes)

Observations:

We have observed the following over time:
- The client seems to go into a state where it is no longer able to recieve frames.
- This is mainly observed when doing re-authentication via 802.1x. As soon as the 802.1x authentication is either started or restarted when the client is in the "non-recieve" state 802.1x authentication will fail.
- EAP-TLS is used.

We observe the following:
(1) Event 12014: 802.1x authention is starting.
(2) The First EAPoL frame is send by the client
(3) After a 5s timeout expires the second EAPoL packet is send by the client
(4) After a 5s timeout expires the third EAPoL packet is send by the client
(5) After a 5s timeout, the client assumes the authenticator (the AP and the WLC ) are no longer responding. The client is logging how much time it took for this 802.1x authentication session (15054ms)
(6) The client is logging that 802.1x Authentication fails. It is failing because there is no “request identity” being returned to the client.
(7) This is the event logged in the event viewer (12013)

Initially we thought the issue was with the WiFi network not returning the "EAP Request, Identity" frame, as this is expected by the client. However, we've used exentsive capturing and we found that the frame is indeed send from the WLC to the AP (copper tap) and we identified the "EAP Request, Identity" frame in the air via AirSniffer.

It is therefore known beyond any reasonable doubt that the WiFi network is not making a mistake during authentication. We observe the same behaviour with ARP. The client is making an ARP request for the gateway, the gateway responds, but the client is not able to "recieve" the frame and looses its default gateway, pretty much rendering the connection useless. The workaround solution we have right now is to "enable/disbale" the WiFi adapter, or in the case of the HP Z-Books end-users press the "WiFi" button on the machine to enable connectivity again.

Could this be related to the earlier issue: "Sporadic Wireless Disconnects Caused by Data Reordering Issue" as they seem to be very related. We have detailed captures of the issue, incl. ETL traces.

What can we do to get this WiFi adapter to work properly?

Intel Wireless AC3165

I have a new Dell Laptop 7353 with the latest wireless adapter AC3165.

I can log into many networks when I am traveling around the country but into my new ASUS Router RT-AC68U at home.  While I can log into my new home router with many devices, the new laptop (AC3165) will log in for only 30-40 seconds and then drop out.  After many drop outs, I have to use restore for my computer to get the network adapter working again. Is there any clues as to why my AC3165 won't log into the ASUS?

Thanks.
